Innovation, pilot project and champions: These are the exhibits
At the second NUFAM DAY - Talk&Network on 20 June, experts from the industry will first discuss the truck toll. Afterwards, visitors will be able to experience the latest commercial vehicle technology in an exhibition.
NUFAM DAY is a mixture of talks on current topics in the commercial vehicle industry combined with an exhibition showcasing the latest technology. Eleven companies are exhibiting at NUFAM DAY 2024 - and this is who they are.
eActros 600
S&G Automobil AG is bringing along the brand new eActros 600. The battery-electric long-distance lorry celebrated its world premiere a few months ago. It will go into production from December 2024, is expected to achieve CO2 savings of more than 80 per cent compared to Disel trucks over its entire life cycle and will be on display at NUFAM DAY.
According to the manufacturer, its technical data is a range of 500 kilometres without intermediate charging. With intermediate charging, it should be possible to cover significantly more than 1000 kilometres during the legally prescribed driver breaks. The eActros 600 has a combined gross combination weight of up to 44 tonnes and a payload of around 22 tonnes with a standard trailer.
IVECO S-eWay and eDaily
IVECO Süd-West Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH is bringing two vehicles to NUFAM DAY - the first electric S-eWay truck manufactured entirely by IVECO and the optimised eDaily electric transporter.
According to IVECO, the S-eWay has a range of up to 500 kilometres hub-to-hub or hub-to-city use - without recharging. The vehicle is powered by a battery system consisting of nine 82-kilowatt-hour batteries with a total capacity of 738 kilowatt hours. With a fast-charging capacity of up to 350 kilowatt hours, the S-eWay can charge 80 per cent of the battery within 90 minutes.
According to the manufacturer, the eDaily has a range of up to 400 kilometres in real city traffic. The latest version of the vehicle - the 72C chassis models with a gross vehicle weight of 7.2 tonnes and a wheelbase of 5100 millimetres - is now available with a fourth battery.
TYN-e TX-7
The Württemberg-based automotive manufacturer TYN-e produces lightweight electric vans. The company is bringing a vehicle to NUFAM DAY - which can be delivered with either a flatbed or a box body. The TX-7 has a length of 3.49 metres, a width of 1.47 metres and a height of 1.69 metres. The load compartment volume is specified as 2.3 cubic metres. The rear axle is powered by a 15 kW motor and, according to the manufacturer, one battery charge is sufficient for 120 kilometres.
25 years of Webfleet
Webfleet will also be exhibiting at NUFAM DAY. Launched as one of the first web-based fleet management solutions, the company claims to have more than 60,000 customers today. Wolfgang Schmid, Webfleet Head of Central Region at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions, says: "Looking back, fleet management has changed fundamentally in recent years. In the beginning, fleet companies focussed purely on tracking and tracing vehicles. Now comes the next stage: networked data. Fleet management systems are becoming smarter and smarter. They connect vehicles, drivers and control centres, collect new data and combine this data in completely new ways. This allows fleet and transport performance to be improved or made more efficient. This is already being successfully implemented in practice."
Recycling and civil engineering
The Reycling Activ & Tiefbau Live (RATL) trade fair will also be taking place on 20 June. The ZE19 will be an eye-catcher. The Zero-Emission-Contruction-Machinery excavator (ZECOM) belongs to the crawler excavator category and has battery-powered electric drive trains. Due to its zero emissions and low noise levels, it is ideal for use in enclosed spaces and residential areas. The ZE19 can also excel in areas where the operation of combustion engines is restricted.
Pilot project
The Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport will be providing information about the eWayBW pilot project as part of the exhibition. According to the Ministry, a unique technology comparison is being carried out as part of this project. As part of this, a purely battery-electric truck (BEV truck) from Daimler Truck AG will be used in the plant logistics of the local paper manufacturers involved alongside the Scania overhead line trucks. At the same time, HVO diesel reFuel is being tested under real-life conditions. The comparison is completed by a next-generation overhead line plug-in hybrid truck (O-PHEV) with a larger battery pack. Thanks to its larger traction battery, purely electric journeys are possible over the entire pilot route, according to the ministry. In the best-case scenario, the traction battery will be charged exclusively via the overhead line during the journey. The aim is to further utilise and evaluate the possibilities of dynamic charging, as the eHighway technology is known.
The trial envisages that all drive types will be used in parallel under identical boundary conditions within the eWayBW plant logistics. The data will be analysed by the accompanying scientific research.
Efficiency Champions
EBB Truck-Center GmbH is one of the leading DAF Truck Dealers. The company is bringing a real champion to NUFAM DAY - an Efficiency Champion. Each truck in this range will be equipped with a comprehensive range of fuel-saving features as standard, including the DAF Digital Vision system (cameras instead of mirrors) and a fully aerodynamic package with spoilers, fairings, fenders and a special base plate with an air duct designed for optimum efficiency. The Efficiency Champion also features low rolling resistance tyres, Predictive Cruise Control as standard and the powerful PACCAR MX engine brake.
Together with its extremely low weight and advanced on-board systems, such as adaptive cruise control, new engine software, the most favourable toll rates, HVO and ultra-modern ADAS systems, the Efficiency Champion sets new standards in transport efficiency and lowest total cost of ownership.
Truck of the Year 2024
Tiropatrans Vertriebs GmbH's appearance at NUFAM DAY is based on the motto ZERO EMISSIONS. Accordingly, Tiropatrans is bringing along the Volvo FH Electric. The truck was voted Truck of the Year 2024 - the first electric lorry to ever receive this award. Tiropatrans will also be represented at NUFAM 2025.
SUPER
Martin Knirsch Kraftfahrzeug GmbH is bringing the SCANIA SUPER to NUFAM DAY. According to the manufacturer, this has the latest 13-litre diesel engine, which saves eight percent fuel. Equipped with the "Smart Dash", visitors to the NUFAM DAY can test the new digital dashboard live. This is designed to allow drivers to interact effortlessly and intuitively with their vehicle. Thanks to the additional integration of "My Scanie" and the "Scania Driver App", the vehicle, the driver and the fleet manager are always up to date with the just-in-time system.
Support programmes
At NUFAM DAY, Weick Consulting GmbH will provide an overview of the current subsidy programmes for companies. Who can still apply for and access funding, where and how much? These questions are of great importance for companies, especially in times of change towards drives with renewables.
Toll reduction
At NUFAM DAY 2024, SATLOG will be showcasing its route optimisation with a new plug & play function to make toll costs transparent. "The aim was for customers to be able to upload their delivery data such as address and transport quantity, for example in roll containers, to the system very easily via Excel/CSV, press a button and then find out how they can deploy their vehicles independently of framework tours in such a way that as few kilometres as possible are driven. The toll difference between the planned and optimised tour is calculated before the tour," says Dr Jürgen Stausberg, Managing Director of SATLOG GmbH.
Exhibiting companies
A total of 13 companies and authorities will be exhibiting at NUFAM DAY - in addition to those already mentioned, they include Fahrzeugwerk Bernard Krone GmbH & Co. KG and Müller-Mitteltal.
Discussion on the lorry toll
Before the vehicles can be inspected, experts at the second NUFAM DAY will discuss the question: lorry toll - successful climate policy or tax increase through the back door?
The talk was moderated by journalist and industry expert Marcus Walter. His discussion partners were Tobias Lang (Managing Director of the Verband des Verkehrsgewerbes Baden e.V. (partner association of the Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr Logistik und Entsorgung)), Florian Hacker (Deputy Head of Resources & Mobility at the Öko-Institut e.V.), Rainer Schmitt (Managing Director of Walter Schmitt GmbH) and Dr Patrick Plötz (Head of the Energy Economics business unit at Fraunhofer ISI).
The entire 90-minute discussion can be viewed on the NUFAM website and on the commercial vehicle trade fair's YouTube channel. The video of the first NUFAM DAY can also be found there, where the discussion centred on which alternative drive type will be the future.
